Texas Cardiac Arrythmia
About Arrhythmia - Introduction
Arrhythmia patients may suffer from fast (tachycardia), slow (bradycardia) or irregular heartbeats. When this condition is suspected, the patient will generally undergo a complete electrophysiological (EP) evaluation that may include an EKG, Holter monitor, event recorder, treadmill stress testing and EP study.
Treatment for arrhythmia may include antiarrhythmic medications, implanted devices such as pacemakers or defibrillators (ICD) and/or radio frequency ablation, a procedure to correct the electrical pathways in the heart.
