Ablation

Ablation is the use of radiofrequency to disrupt an abnormal electrical current. Radio frequency is sent through the the catheter (long, thin, flexible wires) to the site of abnormal conduction, creating scar tissue. The scar tissue prevents future abnormal conduction in that area.

This treatment is normally performed during the same procedure as the EP study.
